With winter well underway, the colder months are the perfect excuse to beat the chill, work up a sweat and keep your body looking fab, no matter the weather. Of course, taming post workout hair is a whole different ball game. The dilemma of how to keep locks looking good throughout and post-workout is one that’s been faced by females for decades. To help you keep your locks looking luscious even after the sweatiest of sessions we’ve put together a list of tried and tested styles ladies can use to ensure that they end their workout with style!
Blow it out
Chances are your locks are drenched in sweat after a full on workout. Instead of emerging from the change room looking utterly damp and dishevelled, use a blow dryer to blast your hair from the roots down. Finish off with a dash of dry shampoo to the roots in order to add volume and freshness.
Braid it baby
Before hitting the gym take the time to braid your hair into semi-tight plaits. This will keep your hair out of your face as your workout, as well as create a gorgeous wavy look when you let them out post-gym session.
Slick and smooth
If you can’t beat the sweat, work with it to create a slick and smooth look. Do this by brushing your hair, then gathering it into a bun at the nape of your neck. Add a slick of your favourite smoothing product to tame flyaways and create a super sleek finished product.
Air dryer
If you like to let your hair air dry yet still hang loose, pinning back front sections into pretty twists is a great way to disguise sweat drenched locks. This will let your hair dry naturally while simultaneously creating a cute kink when you let it out.
Rock a headband
Rather than opt for skinny versions that leave kinks and indents try adding a thick, sweat absorbing headband to your workout ponytail. This will minimise moisture and help keep locks smooth when you finish up.
Messy mermaid waves
Instead of hating on your sweaty hair enhance it with styling products to create gorgeous messy mermaid waves that are usually much harder to achieve. The salts will act as a natural hairspray which means that all you need to do is add a little texturing product and you’re good to go!
No more skipping workouts with these babies up your sleeve! Remember you can still wear extensions if you’re a frequent gym bunny, but it’s always best to tie them up carefully or keep them in plaits or braids.
